Carly MacGillivray
Phone EmailHi! My name is Carly MacGillivray and I am honoured to be a part of the Movin’ Mountains team as a Registered Speech-Language Pathologist. I greatly value interprofessional collaboration, and I am excited to have the opportunity to learn from my colleagues to provide the best possible care to our clients.
I graduated with my Bachelors of Arts degree from McGill University in Montreal in 2008, majoring in Psychology and Linguistics, and completed my Masters of Science in Speech-Language Pathology at the University of British Columbia in 2020. In the decade that passed between degrees, I supported children with developmental differences (primarily autism) to participate in academic, recreational, and community settings. Communication is the key to human interaction, and I count myself lucky to be able to help children and their families reach their communication goals using a strength-based and family-centered approach that focuses on fun and functional.
A little about me: I grew up in the Lower Mainland, settling in the Kootenays in the fall of 2020. In my free time, you can find me baking (and/or watching the Great British Baking Show), walking on local trails with my husband, son, and dog, or listening to podcasts. I’m out of practice, but I will also be dusting off my skis to hit up the local mountains too!
My quote is “one foot in front of the other” as it reminds me that goals are met and progress happens from a gradual accumulation of smaller efforts; that by first taking small steps we can eventually make big leaps. Keep putting one foot in front of the other, and eventually you’ll find that you have climbed a mountain!
