Meet The MM Team

Hi! My name is Larena (La-REE-na) And I am excited to be joining the Movin’ Mountains team as an Occupational Therapist. I was born and raised in the West Kootenays and I am the oldest of 5 children, two of which have diverse needs. I am privileged to live work and play on the traditional ancestorial and unceded territories Sinixt (Lakes), Sylix (Okanagan), and Ktunaxa Peoples.

I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work in 2021 from Thompson Rivers University and then went on to complete my Master of Occupational Therapy at the University of British Columbia: Northern Cohort in Prince George 2026.

In my placements through school, I have had a lot of exposure to seating, equipment prescription and supporting children and families who have difficulties with food and feeding

I also have lots of experience working with neurodiverse children and families. I have been a support worker, education assistant, guardianship social worker and respite provider for many years.

Outside of work you can find me spending time with my cats, fostering cats and kittens through KAAP, spending time with my family and going to the beach.

I believe Occupational therapy is most effective if is a collaborative process between the child, family, and therapist. Parents and caregivers know their child best and I value their knowledge and perspective that they bring to each session. I really encourage parent involvement in sessions so we can share ideas problem solved together and build strategies that naturally fit into the child and family’s everyday routine.

My goal is to not only support progress during therapy sessions, but also to equip families with practical tools and confidence to continue supporting their child at home and in community.
