Hello my name is Michelle!
I am so happy that Movin’ Mountains has kindly offered me a practicum position in clinical counselling. I started my journey in 2001 when I went to Selkirk College to pursue a career in early childhood care and education. My passion is working with young children and I have come full circle as I am now an instructor in the ECCE program at Selkirk College. I consider myself a lifelong learner and I have continued my studies part time while working and raising my two children. I have a degree in Child and Youth Care through the University of Victoria and I am entering my final year at the University of Lethbridge completing a Masters in Counselling.
When I am not studying I enjoy walking my dog, camping, board games, pizza and movie nights, travelling and photography. I consider myself to be a strength-based therapist utilizing play and art techniques in therapy sessions. My goal is to provide a safe space for you to explore your unique experiences and discover how your thoughts, feelings and behaviours are impacting your life.
My quote is “small change-big impact”, I believe every step to change needs to be acknowledged and celebrated. Sometimes the first steps can be the hardest and even calling to make a counselling appointment can be that small change that can impact your life.
