My name is Amanda and I am a physiotherapist at MM. For several years I have practiced in orthopaedic physiotherapy. I worked with many young athletes and enjoyed helping them return to their sport. I also have training in concussion management and have worked with kids and adults after suffering a concussion to return to school, work, and sports. I have coached kids mountain biking and cross-country skiing programs, and with Fast and Female, an organization geared toward keeping girls active in sport.
I have taken courses in various treatment techniques including Manual Therapy, Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS), taping, coaching, running, exercise therapy, and taping. I use a combination of these techniques depending on the needs and goals of the patient. I love to see kids having fun but also improving at the skills they are having difficulty with. I enjoy the challenge of mixing fun, play, and therapy to reach the family’s goals.
A bit about me: For several years I balanced Physiotherapy school and then work with racing mountain bikes at the professional level. I have competed for Canada at several international events and won a bronze medal in 2011 at the Pan American Games. Mountain biking continues to be my favourite thing and I spend most of my free time on my bike.
What does my quote mean? It’s often easy to accept where you are and that you can’t do or achieve something. The purpose of my quote “Dream Big” is to challenge this notion and promote a growth mindset. I want to inspire others to have big goals, dreams, and plans, because you never know what you can do unless you go for it.
